Available in our 2-ounce loose leaf. 

Ingredients: Organic Yaupon, coriander, pumpkin, apples, cinnamon, licorice, ginger, cloves, and black pepper.

(while we do our best to source organic ingredients, we are only claiming that the yaupon is certified organic).

Yaupon is delicious, smooth, and clean. With our Texas sandy-loam terroir, our yaupon has a very clean and refreshing profile, award-winning and delicious. 

Nothing touches these leaves but sunshine and rainwater, so CatSpring Yaupon is as sustainable and natural as it gets. 

No tannins: Without tannins, your yaupon is smooth without that astringency or bite of an imported tea. Also means your tea will never turn bitter, no matter how long or how many times you steep. 
No pesticides: just natural and organic flavor with every sip.

Steeping

Hot Cup of Yaupon

We prefer our water just off boiling and for each cup (approximately 14 ounces) of hot water, use one yaupon pouch or one teaspoon of loose leaf yaupon.

1. First steep 4-6 minutes.
2. Second steep 5-8 minutes.
3. Third steep 7-10 minutes.
4. Fourth steep 9-12 minutes.

Or just keep adding hot water and leave the yaupon in your cup as you sip. You can't oversteep yaupon :)

Cold Brewed Yaupon

1. Place three yaupon pouches or 1 tablespoon of loose leaf yaupon in a pitcher.
2. Add water.
3. Place the pitcher in the fridge overnight.

Enjoy your chilled yaupon!

Sustainability

When we say sustainability, we mean that every step of our process is crafted for the benefit of our suppliers, harvesters, customers, and of course, our planet.

All of our yaupon is wild-grown, harvested by hand, and packaged in fully recyclable and biodegradable materials.

Additionally, there is no water added to our process unlike coffee which can take up 37 gallons of water; Our yaupon has only rainwater and sunshine by the time we harvest it.

We are proudly Regenerative Organic certified.

Yaupon: The Beloved Plant

Why do you feel better after a delicious cup of yaupon? It’s jam-packed with some serious health-boosting properties:

SAPONINS

A natural cleanser! Prevents absorption of fats for help with weight loss, boosts immune system, and helps regulate cholesterol levels. Pretty serious litter workhorse.

THEOBROMINE

Found in chocolate, theobromine can elevate your mood, boost your mental energy, and is good for oral health. This handy little compound is also found in yaupon. So drink up for a better mood and brighter smile!

RUTIN

Another anti-inflammatory compound found in yaupon (and in delicious fruits like apple and lemon). Yaupon even has 4 times the amount of rutin as found in its popular cousin plant, guayusa.

JITTER-FREE ENERGY

Yaupon has a pretty unique energy. With smooth caffeine (we see about 25 mg per serving), the boost is augmented by theobromine and theacrine to give a mental boost. Some folks say it's caffeine without the anxiety!

ANTIOXIDANTS

If you wanna get specific on the type of antioxidants, we're working with chlorogenic acid. All the expected antioxidant benefits and helps slow release of glucose into the bloodstream after a meal!

POLYPHENOLS & FLAVANOIDS

These are big names for two helpful compounds. Both have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Because of these properties, both compounds are chemo-preventative.
